What Is Jeuveau?

If you want to restore soft, smooth, and firm skin by reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on your face, you have a brand-new, widely popular cosmetic option! Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) is a modern, FDA-approved frown line treatment that temporarily improves the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines in the area between the eyebrows, or glabellar lines, in adults. Jeuveau uses Hi-Pure™ technology in its formulation, making it unlike any other injectable neuromodulator.

How Does Jeuveau Work?

Jeuveau injection is an FDA-approved prescription medication, also called a neuromodulator, neurotoxin, or tox, used to temporarily treat and enhance the appearance of the skin by reducing the visible presence of moderate-to-severe frown lines or glabellar lines in adults. During your Gainesville cosmetic procedure, Jeuveau will be expertly injected into your frown lines or the "11s" in the space between your eyebrows.

When injected, the formulation temporarily prevents your nerves from instructing your muscles to contract or flex. As the muscles within your glabellar lines relax, this process smooths the look of dynamic frown lines or lines produced from many years of frowning. Jeuveau Vs. Botox®

A frown line injection used in the treatment of wrinkles, Jeuveau is sometimes referred to as the "new Botox" or "Newtox" because it is a new formulation using the same active ingredient used in the original Botox Cosmetic formulation. Jeuveau shares similarities with Botox, yet several key differences distinguish this injectable from other cosmetic fillers, such as Juvéderm® injectables and other botulinum toxin injections. Botox and Jeuveau are made with the same active ingredient: botulinum toxin type A, a neurotoxin that relaxes the muscles under the skin when injected.

How Long Does Jeuveau Last?

The lasting power of injections with Jeuveau varies from patient to patient. Following the initial injection, the effects of botulinum toxin dissipate naturally over several weeks to months. Most patients enjoy anywhere from 3–6 months of lasting effects following their injections with Jeuveau.

Jeuveau Side Effects

Jeuveau is considered a safe treatment for the temporary reduction of glabellar lines. However, as with all cosmetic injections, there are potential risks and side effects. If you receive Jeuveau injections and experience severe side effects lasting several days, contact your provider immediately. If you have trouble breathing or speaking or experiencing vision issues, seek emergency help. The most common potential side effects include the following.

  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Pain at the injection sites
  • Headaches
  • Eyelid drooping
  • Upper respiratory infection
  • Increased white blood cell count

How Many Units Of Jeuveau Do I Need?

The number of units of Jeuveau you require may vary based on the specific area being treated, among other factors. For many patients, treating their glabellar lines can require up to 25 units of Jeuveau. Treating other fine lines and wrinkles on the face may require 10 to 25 product units.
