?Why is it important to have a plastic surgeon that is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery?

Surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery have had residency training in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery and also Reconstructive Surgery. While it is legal for any physician to perform cosmetic surgery only a physician that is certified by the Board of Plastic Surgery has passed the required exams and must keep up their training to stay certified in Plastic Surgery.

?Am I a good candidate for Plastic Surgery?

A good candidate for Plastic Surgery will be able to identify a physical issue that they are motivated to improve. You should also have realistic expectations of the outcome of the particular procedure you choose to have. You will also be in reasonably good health and you should not have any major medical conditions that would preclude you from having an elective procedure.

?Q: How long will my breast implants last?

Implants do not have a particular time frame when they will need to be changed. If you are not having problems with your implants you will not need to replace them.

?Q: What takes place during my consultation?

During the consultation with Dr. Poser, you will discuss your goals and the changes you are interested in making to your physical appearance.  Dr. Poser will explain the procedures and outline the viable options and risks.  You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

?Q: How long will it take me to recover from my Plastic Surgery?

Depending on the procedure you decide to have it could be as little as a few hours up to several weeks.

?Q: What type of anesthesia is used during Plastic Surgery?

The type of anesthesia may vary depending on what is appropriate for the type of surgery you are having.  The type used most often in our office is Conscious Sedation, which allows patients to recover quickly and resume normal daily activities in a short period of time.
